Takes a lot of pressure of the ripps
I couldn’t recommend this product enough for anyone going on a surf trip to a hot country. I’ve been on quite a few surf trips and always end up in so much pain because of the friction between my ribs and the board. I just got back from a surf trip where I surfed 21 times in 12 days, and had no pain. The rib guard even helps builds up your tolerance so the last couple of days I could surf in a bikini which I’ve never been able to do before. This is an absolute must buy!
After loosing a lot of weight I found myself essentially having bone against board when paddling. This caused me pain and eventually a stress fracture. After consulting with my doctor, and healing the rib fracture, I decided to try this product, and it solved the problem. So happy to be able to surf again!
Works / would buy again - some suggstions for improvements:
- The padding could be thicker (think about adding a removable second layer of padding)
- Think about making Velcro tape with loops (loopy side) wider and Velcro tape with hooks (hook side) narrower, so as to avoid scratching of the skin

Your point regarding the width of the Velcro compared to the rest of the strap has already been incorporated into the latest version—the Velcro is now cut in a tapered shape. You can also go ahead and trim the Velcro slightly with a pair of scissors.
For the padding thickness, I have been considering offering patches in different height, I will let you know if I find a solution here.

I have a rib which sticks out and always had pain when surfing. This guard solved all my problems. No more pain even after surfing day after day. Sometimes it moves a bit up or down but overall great
